Blaze a film trail across Wales and Argentina

Updated

The nationwide release of the film Patagonia today has inspired Visit Wales to create a map of the 12 of the film's Welsh locations.

The tale of two women's lives, played out against the backdrop of the Welsh (pictured above) and Patagonian landscapes, is set to be a big-screen hit.

Visitors to Wales can now explore the locations, from Cardiff in the south to Snowdonia in the north. Along the way, they can take in St Fagans National History Museum, with its 40 period Welsh buildings, and the coastal town of Aberystwyth with its views of Cardigan Bay.

Other hotspots on the map include the Aberystwyth Electric Cliff Railway and the Iron Age Fort on Pen Dinas.

But Visit Wales isn't the only organisation riding the Patagonian pony. Tour operators specialising in Argentina itineraries have also been inspired by the film. The 15-day End of the Earth tour from Gap Adventures, takes in the Patagonian landscape, as well as the capital Buenos Aires.

Travel In Depth also has a 12-night Secrets of South America's Far South trip, while World Expeditions runs two trips to Patagonia.
