Geneva motor show: Chevrolet Cruze hatchback

Chevrolet has launched the hatchback version of its Ford Focus sized Cruze at the Geneva show.

The five-door model will be welcomed by Chevrolet dealers as they have previously only been able to offer a four-door saloon model, and it goes on sale from this summer.

The front end of the car carries over the saloon's looks, while the rear adds what Chevrolet calls 'coupe' like styling, and is very similar to the hatchback concept the manufacturer showed off at last year's Paris motor show.

There are no stats available to indicate just how big that hatchback boot is, but Chevrolet says it will be as impressive compared to its rivals as the saloon version.

The new car will be offered with a range of engines, including the 161bhp diesel that is offered in the Chevrolet Orlando among others.

It will go on sale from the summer, and final prices will be announced closer to the time, but expect them to start around a similar level to the saloon's £13,795.
