Jeremy Clarkson's impulse buy Lamborghini up for sale
A Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder bought by Jeremy Clarkson after fellow presenter James May dared him to is up for sale on Auto Trader.
Clarkson bought the car in 2007 after a Top Gear feature (which you can watch below) where he described the Lamborghini convertible as "absolutely tremendous" and May challenged him to put his money where his mouth is.
Less tremendous is the £50,000 drop in value since new - Clarkson bought the car for £140,000, whilst it is now up for sale at a bargain £89,990.
James May reportedly said of Clarkson that "he can't very well spend his entire professional life extolling the virtues of the supercar if he hasn't got one."
Clarkson is then said to have driven with both of his Top Gear colleagues to the nearest Lamborghini dealer and bought the Gallardo. A mere snip, when he is said to be worth many millions of pounds.
His own car is in an identical specification to the car he tested on the show, right down to the orange leather seats and comes with a full Lamborghini service history and even a television, presumably so that Clarkson could watch himself on Dave at any hour of the day.
The Gallardo features a suspension system that raises the nose when you get to speed bumps - although this won't have been a problem in the rural Oxfordshire where controversial motormouth Clarkson is based.
The car is being sold by exotic car seller Buckinghamshire High Performance - test drives are by appointment only, but the outfit does also offer hire packages if you're not a millionaire television presenter and can only briefly afford the high-speed experience.
