Elle Macpherson hits runway for new Virgin cabin crew uniforms

Updated

They were recently voted 'the most beautiful cabin crew in the world', and now Virgin's air hostesses have boosted their sexy image with a brand new uniform - and a little help from Elle Macpherson.

The supermodel was among 60 pilots and crew from Virgin Blue - Australia's second largest airline - who took to the catwalk to show off the airline's new uniforms.

The sexy red and purple outfits were created by Project Runway winner Juli Grbac. But Elle didn't join the girls in their new looks - instead, she took a leaf out of Top Gun's style book, and strutted her stuff in a pilot's outfit, complete with cap and aviators.

The show took place at the Pitt St Mall in Sydney, Elle's home town. And, addressing the hundreds who turned up to see the show, she said: "Richard (Branson) wanted to be here today. He had a skiing accident and has just had an operation on his knee.

"I have so much respect for Richard because he captains his ship with integrity and with a sense of humour, and I really look up to him," adding: "It's wonderful to be home. I miss my family."
