Nissan pitches its Juke against far prettier swimsuit model

Associating your brand with beautiful, scantily-clad women is the oldest trick in the advertising book. In fact, it predates the book. It's the oldest trick in ever attempting to sell anything to men. Ever.

We'd happily buy tofu fish fingers if they were presented to us between the breasts of a 19-year-old lingerie model so Nissan's sponsorship of Sports Illustrated's legendary swimsuit issue makes perfect sense to us.

Of course it might not make quite so much sense to all the young women who were considering buying a Juke, but as this is the 21st century, the corresponding commercials are delivered with just enough irony to appeal to everyone's highly enlightened, postmodern sensibilities.
