Previous generations of the Kia Sportage were pioneers of the "compact SUV" segment but only sold well because of their "value for money" pricing and specification, rather than being an attractive alternative to mainstream rivals.

I don't think this will be true of the latest third-generation version, as like the Venga and C'eed before it, Kia are very serious about taking on class leaders and winning.
