Government to give greater access to motorists records?

Are you telling porkies to your insurance company about your driving record? Well your days could be numbered if the Government gets its way.

According to a news piece in the Telegraph today, the Road Safety Minister Mike Penning has announced that the Government is looking at giving insurers greater access to motorists' driving records.
Currently, a driver's consent is needed before the DVLA shows its records to insurance companies. Under new rules planned by the government, a request for access to the DVLA database would be included in any insurance proposal form.

As thus, the insurance company would be free to decline insurance to any drivers who do not allow insurers to get any information on previous motoring convictions.
