British Rally Championship announces changes for 2012

Updated

UK Rally, organizers of the Dulux MSA British Rally Championship have confirmed that the series will only be open to two-wheel drive cars from 2012. This move is designed to encourage competitors with its lower costs and engage with UK Car manufacturers and importers, plus put the BRC on a firm footing for the next five years.

The 2012 Championship will therefore solely focus on homologated two-wheel drive car with up to 2.0-lire engine capacity, alongside cars that are still homologated in groups A & N and includes the new breed of Group R class cars currently produced by Renault, Peugeot, Suzuki, Ford and Citroën. Other manufacturers expected to homologate for this class in 2011 include MINI and Skoda.
