ASA forces Vauxhall to change warranty advert

Updated

Vauxhall has been forced to make changes to its 'Lifetime Warranty' advertising campaign, but has denied reports that the advert was banned by the Advertising Standards Agency.

The advert now has to clarify that the warranty is only available for the first owner of the car, something which was only previously explained in the small print. This fact must now be made clearer in the main body of the ad. After criticism of this fact, Vauxhall is also set to announce a new programme that will offer an extended warranty for the second owner of its new cars. Currently the second owner is not covered by the 100,000 mile timeless warranty.
