Jeremy Clarkson earns £830,000 extra



Jeremy Clarkson is never far from controversy with his outspoken views on cars, the government and environment. Now, he's firmly back in the public spotlight after his 2010 salary was revealed.

Accounts filed at Companies House showed that a joint venture between him, his Executive Producer and the commercial arm of the BBC netted him an £830,000 profit.

The TV presenter, who is on an estimated £1million BBC contract, has reportedly cashed in on a lucrative deal with bosses, allowing him to make money from merchandising and overseas sales bearing the Top Gear brand.

This venture was set up in 2006, when Clarkson apparently threatened to quit unless he was given a bigger financial investment to stay.

A BBC spokesman is quoted in the Daily Telegraph as saying: 'Jeremy is instrumental in ensuring the ongoing success of Top Gear, and this in turn benefits the BBC.'
