On test: Toyota Auris HSD T Spirit

The Prius has dominated the hybrid market in the UK and Toyota has now sold 2.5 million worldwide. It is without doubt a huge success. But what do you do if you don't see yourself as a Prius driver? Don't worry you're not on your own and Toyota may have come up with an answer – the Auris HSD.

Toyota's plan is to have a hybrid version of all of its top selling models by the end of the decade and the Auris is the first of these. Basically, the HSD is an Auris fitted with all the proven technology developed for the Prius. To see if there is more to the Auris HSD than its eco-friendly credentials, we spent a week with one to find out.
