McLaren announces MP4-12C GT3 racer

McLaren has officially announced its intention to go GT sports car racing again, with the MP4-12C GT3. Based on the MP4-12C road car, it's the first time McLaren has been GT racing since the legendary F1 GTR famously won the Le Mans 15 years ago.

Like the F1 before it, the MP4-12C GT3 should prove competitive. Its lightweight one-piece moulded carbon chassis, the high levels of down force and the aerodynamic performance lend themselves well to racing. Changes for the exterior styling include the more aggressive front apron, wider tracks and of course that less than subtle rear spoiler.
