McLaren not giving up

McLaren fans have been busily tapping away on their calculators. Lewis Hamilton is 21 points behind Fernando Alonso, Jenson Button a more daunting 42. In the constructors' championship, there is a 27-point gap between McLaren and current leaders Red Bull. Even so, Martin Whitmarsh asserts: "We are aiming to battle even harder for both world titles."

One factor keeping McLaren's hopes up is the unpredictability of the season so far. "If there is one thing that Formula One has taught us in recent years, it's that you should never give up prematurely," stresses Whitmarsh. And that is precisely what Jenson Button is counting on.
