New car sales fall again in September

Updated

New car registrations fell by 8.9 percent in September, despite the change of registration plate that usually provides a boost to sales.

The fall is consistent with the last three months, over which time demand has dropped by 11 percent to a total September figure of 335,246 units – the second lowest volume for the month since the registration plate format changed in 1999 to the current twice yearly system.
