Whitmarsh gives Hamilton full backing

Two DNFs in Monza and Singapore mean that Lewis Hamilton's deficit on championship leader Mark Webber has widened from five to 20 points. The two drivers collided in a battle for the final podium spot in Singapore. But whereas that spelt the end of Hamilton's race, Webber went on to finish third.

According to Hamilton's team principal, the British driver was not at fault. "Lewis was simply unlucky," said Martin Whitmarsh. "You could easily point out that we've now had two retirements in succession, but if you examine today's incident more closely, you'll see that Lewis did nothing wrong."
