Police have been accused of unnecessary heavy-handedness as they arrived in a riot van to issue parking tickets to parents collecting their disabled children from school.

A total of nine officers arrived at the Hilltop Special School in Maltby near Rotherham, where they proceeded to issue £30 on-the-spot fines to parents collecting their children, some of whom were in wheelchairs.
