Roads in the United Kingdom have emerged as the safest in a report on 33 countries that labels the last decade as a record one for road safety.

Britain topped the list with the fewest fatal crashes per 100,000 inhabitants, a rate of just 3.8, just ahead of Sweden and the Netherlands, tied in second on 3.9. Malaysia came bottom with a rate of 23.8 per 100,000 for the last ten years.
