Global debut for Ford Focus ST at Paris show
Ford has confirmed it will unveil the new Focus ST at the Paris motor show later this month.
The car will feature a 247bhp version of the manufacturer's 2.0-litre Ecoboost petrol engine, and will go on sale globally from early 2012.
At Paris, Ford will show an early preview model of the ST that reveals the styling tweaks that differentiate the performance variant from the standard range.
Deeper air intakes, side skirts and a roof spoiler make the new hot hatch a more aggressive prospect than the current ST; complimented by the dramatic paintjob Ford has dubbed 'Tangerine Scream'.
The interior certainly follows suit, with a carbon fibre effect featuring heavily on the fascia, and a high contrast 'stitched leather' finish on the dash.
While the show car will be a five-door model, Ford is intent on making the ST available as an estate version in the UK for the first time.
The Ecoboost engine's confirmed output means that the new Focus will eclipse the 223bhp output of the current generation car and puts it on par with the Renault Megane 250. The Ecoboost unit is almost certain to reflect Ford's promise that CO2 emissions will fall across its range.
The ST will be joined at Paris by the new European-spec Focus in all of its production-ready body styles. Performance model aside, the new range will go on sale in the UK next spring.
