Whitmarsh: Vettel making too many mistakes

For a few seconds, alarm bells were ringing at McLaren control. Lewis Hamilton had just skidded off a damp track into the gravel and seemed to be caressing the tyre wall. "Lewis was probably the luckiest man in Belgium today," said Red Bull team principal Christian Horner, commenting on the brief excursion by the ultimate race winner.

Hamilton's boss Martin Whitmarsh meanwhile played down the incident: "Lewis did a fantastic job today. He won the race because he was the fastest man on the track. Just before spinning off, he was in a race of his own. OK, he had a torrid moment, but he'd built up a comfortable lead and stayed out ahead."
