Pirelli "very satisfied" with Mugello test

Updated

Pirelli say they are "very satisfied" with the outcome of their first F1-spec test of their 2011 tyres, after running for two days in Mugello, Italy this week. Former Mercedes GP test driver Nick Heidfeld drove last year's Toyota TF109 on Tuesday and Wedenesday to evaluate the Italian firm's rubber ahead of their return to Formula One next year, with further tests planned later this month.

The objective of the test, which was held in largely dry and sunny conditions, was to begin the process of determining the front and rear tyre profile and construction that will be used as the basis of Pirelli's F1 tyre. Pirelli has already received a document from the Formula One Teams' Association (FOTA) outlining the characteristics they are seeking from the tyre, while all regulations regarding the size of the tyres will remain unchanged from this year.
