Jaguar to unveil armoured XJ at the home of the oligarchs

Updated

Jaguar will launch an armoured version of its XJ saloon at the Moscow motor show capable of withstanding the blast from 15kg of TNT.

The manufacturer claims the XJ Sentinel will offer superior ballistic protection – the car will stop a 7.62mm rifle round – in a model which is virtually indistinguishable from the standard one.

The Sentinel is based on the long-wheelbase version of the XJ and gets the naturally aspirated version of Jaguar's 381bhp 5.0-litre V8 petrol engine to haul around its substantial 3,300kg kerbweight.
