Lotus unveils 'turn-key F1' track car

Updated

Lotus has revealed an ultra-exclusive F1-derived track car at a motorsports event in California.

The Exos Type 125 is built on a carbon fibre monocoque chassis and gets a 645bhp 3.5-litre V8 Cosworth engine capable of revving to 10,800rpm in overtake mode. The car's power-to-weight ratio is said to be almost 1000bhp per ton.

Lotus plans to build just 25 examples of the model, and insists that its performance is as close to a Formula One car as it is possible to get without investing in a place on the pitlane. The manufacturer has not officially announced a price, but reports suggest it may be as much $1m apiece.
