New Lancia Stratos caught testing in Italy

A spectacular modern version of the iconic Lancia Stratos has been pictured testing at Alfa Romeo's proving ground at Balocco in northern Italy.

The test mule is thought to be based on the same underpinnings as a Ferrari F430 Challenge Cup car and is believed to have been created at the request of an enthusiast who is funding the project. However the possibility remains (and we're crossing our fingers) that the 1970s rally icon could be reborn in a very limited production run.
