Electric car £5,000 government subsidy saved but for fewer buyers

It has been confirmed that electric car buyers will get the promised £5,000 grant to help with their purchase, but fewer of them will benefit after the government slashed the total amount of cash in the pot.

Only 8,600 motorists will now get the chance to enjoy the discount, significantly fewer than the 46,000 that would have benefitted before the cuts. The original investment was meant to be £230m, but that has been seemingly slashed to just £46m.
