Fans demand further punishment after Ferrari scandal, experts disagree

Updated

An astonishing 95 percent of Formula 1 fans want to see Ferrari hit with a further penalty after thinly-veiled team orders forced Felipe Massa to let Fernando Alonso pass without a fight.

A poll on Autoblog UK showed that only five percent of fans believed that the £65,000 ($100,000) fine already imposed by the Hockenheim stewards was sufficient.

However, former F1 driver Mark Blundell has played down the furore and suggested that the rule on team orders should be scrapped altogether.
