Honda revamps hybrid based on customer insight

Honda has revised the specification of its Insight hybrid following criticisms of the ride comfort and interior trim quality made by customers and the media.

The manufacturer has implemented a number of chassis alterations designed to improve the ride quality of the car, including adjusting the recoil rate of the springs, changing the rear camber angles and altering the rear suspension brace and mounts.

Early customer feedback had revealed a negative response to the Insight's comfort levels - an issue already highlighed by the initial press reaction to the car.

As well as the chassis modifications, Honda has also upgraded the some of the plastics used in the interior and changed colours to give a more uniform look between the dashboard and the seats.

A new top-of-the-range model, the EX, has also been introduced to the Insight line-up. This includes leather upholstery, DVD Sat Nav and hands-free connectivety.

While the opinions of current owners have contributed to the improvements, they will not see the benefits - Honda's alterations will not be made available for older models, only new Insights will feature them.
