Peugeot grab pole at 1000km of Algarve

Qualifying in the Le Mans Series at Portimao turned out to be a tighter affair than predicted.

Although Nicolas Lapierre driving the Number 4 Peugeot 908 HDi FAP eventually secured pole position, his lap time of 01:30.681 minutes was only two-and-a-half thousands of a second faster than his pursuers.

While the Oreca Matmut team in the shape of Lapierre and Olivier Panis will be starting from the front of the grid, Neel Jani and Nicolas Prost in their Rebellion Lola have to content themselves with second place. Their two team-mates Andrea Belicchi and Jean-Christophe Boullion meanwhile line up in fourth place behind the Signature duo of Pierre Ragues and Franck Mailleux.
