Silverstone: Webber wins convincingly

Updated

Four drivers went into the race at Silverstone, which marks the half-way stage of the season, with two wins so far this year to their credit. Red Bull's mission was clear. At the end of the race, one of their drivers would have three wins under his belt. They succeeded. But whether the team had Mark Webber in mind for that honour is in some doubt after the controversy at qualifying over a new front wing.

Nevertheless, Webber kept the old wing and his nerve, beat Vettel at the start and drove to a convincing win, his fifth in Formula One. On the team radio, Webber quipped, "Not bad for a number two driver".
