Aston releases Nurburgring-inspired limited edition
Aston Martin has announced plans to sell a limited edition version of its V8 Vantage that has been inspired by the firm's exploits at the 24-hour race at the Nurburgring.
The Vantage N420 gets its name from the 420bhp the 4.7-litre V8 engine produces and is based on the cars that competed in the gruelling race. But as Aston competes with road legal cars, it is not as pared down a model as you might think.
It does offer a 27kg weight saving over the standard V8 Vantage, but this is largely down to the use of carbon fibre rather than by stripping out all the non-essentials.
Casual observers might notice the outside changes first, with 10-spoke gloss-black alloys, wider sill, a carbon fibre splitter and black mesh vents all combining to create the N420's look. Special paint jobs will also be available, with a choice of 'Rose' yellow, 'Elwood' blue and the fantastically named 'Kermit' green joining white, black and the classic Aston racing green on the option list.
Inside, owners will enjoy a leather or Altanctara steering wheel, carbon fibre seats, Bluetooth, cruise control and parking sensors. It will also get a series of N420 badges on the sills. Appropriately enough, a maximum of 420 of the cars will be made.
The Aston Martin N420 starts production this month and customers that pay the £96,995 asking price can expect their cars to arrive from August.
