Toyota CEO told to stop weeping by investor

Updated

Toyota's chief executive was told to stop crying in front of the media by an investor at the manufacturer's annual general meeting this week.

The shareholder told Akio Toyoda that his behaviour during some of Toyota's public apologies for technical faults was unacceptable.

"Mr Toyoda, you've been all over the media this year and you've gone teary-eyed on several occasions. For a man of your position, this is unacceptable. Please keep your chin up and try not to weep," said the disgruntled investor.
