British lawnmower sets new land speed record

Us Brits may not be the best at turning out mass-produced hatchbacks, but we seem to be a dab hand at cobbling together one-off creations that go really ruddy fast.

A British team has set a new land speed record on a lawnmower of all things, with the petrol-powered machine posting an 86.069mph speed on Saturday, followed by an 87.833mph record on the Sunday.
