Audi unveils new lightweight R8 GT

Audi has revealed a new lightweight version of its celebrated R8 supercar, which promises to be the fastest road-going car Ingolstadt has ever made.

Dubbed the R8 GT, the car is 100kg lighter than the standard V10 model and its power has been boosted to around 552bhp from 518bhp.

This translates to a power-to-weight ratio of 361bhp, and allows the GT to crack 62mph in just 3.6 seconds before rocketing to a top speed of 199mph.
