Motorsport legends lined up for Monaco
The streets of Monte Carlo will once again echo to the sound of pre-war motorsport heroes when the Historic Grand Prix of Monaco is staged next month.
For the first time since 1937 two Auto Union Silver Arrows will race through the narrow streets of the Principality driven by two ex-Formula One drivers, Jacky Ickx and Hans-Joachim Stuck. For Stuck, it will be a particularly poignant moment as he takes to the road in the type C, the model that his father raced in 1936 and 1937.
"It will be a very emotional moment for me. When I think of the sound the 16-cylinder engine will make in those built-up street, it already sends a shiver down my spine, " he said.
Ickx wil drive the Type D at the event to be held on 1 and 2 May and if you're wondering what all the fuss is about, enjoy this sample of a Type D:
