Is £2k electric scooter first real-world EV?

Updated

A British company is launching the first electric scooter to be powered by a detachable lithium ion battery that can be taken indoors to charge.

The Econogo Yugo costs £1,999, making it a rival for conventional petrol-powered bikes, but it costs next to nothing to run.

Unlike rival EV manufacturers, Yugo owners won't have to trail a power cord from across the street to their scooter either – the compact battery can be removed and charged from a conventional mains power socket.
