Lennon fans angry at Citroen DS3 ad

Updated

John Lennon fans have reacted angrily to the new DS3 advertising campaign by Citroen which shows clips of stars such as Marilyn Monroe and John Lennon speaking about nostalgia.

Fans have said that the advert is cashing in on the Beatles star and even calling for a boycott of Citroen products. The reaction has prompted Lennon's son to defend the advert and mother Yoko Ono's decision to allow the footage to be used.

Speaking on his Twitter page Sean Ono Lennon said, "She did not do it for money. Has to do [with] hoping to keep dad in public consciousness. No new LPs, so TV ad is exposure to young." He added: "Look, TV ad was not for money. It's just hard to find new ways to keep dad in the new world. Not many things as effective as TV."
