Toyota recall is not all bad news

Not since the ill-fated 'elk test' that toppled a Mercedes A-Class onto its side, has a car firm suffered a PR disaster quite like Toyota in recent months.

In case you've missed the 24-hour news coverage and front pages of scaremongering newspapers, the Japanese giant was forced to recall millions of cars across the world after a sticking throttle pedal fault was discovered.

The Aygo, iQ, Yaris, Auris, Corolla, Verso and Avensis were all issued with recalls and owners forced to return to dealers for a fix. And kicking the manufacturer while it was down, a problem with the Prius was also unearthed resulting in 8,500 cars returning to dealers for a 'software update'.

But despite the bashing the car giant has taken across the world, evidence is emerging that the PR 'disaster' might have turned into quite the opposite...
