Production LRX to make debut in Paris

Updated

Land Rover is likely to unveil the production-ready version of the LRX at the Paris motor show in September.

The small, premium 4x4 is Land Rover's most important car for years and is set to attract new, younger customers to the brand by blending good looks and high build quality with an attractive price.

Described as a baby Range Rover, the LRX has already been seen in as a concept car, but the second half of this year will mark its arrival as a showroom reality. It's expected to go on sale towards the end of 2010.

Rumours suggest the LRX will go on sale with Land Rover's new hybrid powertrain, which could pair a 3.0-litre V6 diesel with an electric motor and battery pack to boost both power and efficiency. Sources suggest the electric motor alone could power the car for 20 miles when fully charged.
