Lotus to unveil 2011 Elise at Geneva show

Updated

Lotus is displaying the facelifted version of its popular Elise sports car at the upcoming motor show in Geneva in March.
The visual tweaks see the Elise adopt a softer face, with some sharp edges smoothed out and a more rounded grille sitting on the front. The rear end has also been slightly reworked, but the changes are not drastic.

A bigger change comes under the bonnet, where Lotus is offering a new entry-level 1.6-litre engine that is provided by Toyota.
Official figures are still being sorted, but Lotus expects the 134 bhp unit to get CO2 emissions below 155g/km and manage 46mpg while still being able to get to 60mph in just 6.0 seconds.

Higher in the engine range, the Elise R and SC remain unchanged, with the 189bhp engine and the 217bhp supercharged offering getting to 60 in 5.1 and 4.3 seconds respectively.
