Welsh rugby star sacked for drink-driving a golf buggy on the M4

Will Powell

Wales has dropped one of its rugby stars from the national team after he was allegedly caught driving a golf buggy along the M4 while drunk.

Back row forward Andy Powell was arrested with another man at 5.40am on Sunday near junction 33 of the M4 just hours after the Welsh team's dramatic win over Scotland.

Powell allegedly stole the golf buggy from the team's Vale of Glamorgan hotel before being charged with drink-driving a few miles away at a motorway service station. Despite the player's apologies to the Welsh rugby management staff and the hotel, the team were quick to take action against him.
