The Frome Flyover

Updated

You know you've made something of yourself when your home town chooses to name something in your honour.

John Lennon and JFK have airports bearing their names, while many a famous sportsman can find streets named after them in the address book.

Now Jenson Button has joined the ranks, but rather than a street, Formula One's latest champion gets a footbridge in his home town of Frome in Somerset as recognition of his achievements.

"The bridge is going to be built anyway so we decided it would be a good idea to name it after him," said town mayor Damon Hooton.

Rumours that Button Bridge will nicknamed the Frome Flyover remain unconfirmed.
