Drunkard's 30-mile bus joyride ends in jail

A man who stole a bus and took it for a 30-mile joyride in West Yorkshire has been locked up.

Twenty-seven-year-old Shane Oldroyd was found to be three times over the legal drink-driving limit when police finally caught up with him after he had damaged more than 50 cars, several walls and plenty of street signs.

And the reason for his devastating ride? He didn't have any cash left for the fare after his earlier drinking spree.

Don't expect to see him on the roads for a few years - the judge at Leeds Crown Court sentenced him to an indefinite period with a minimum of three and a half years.
