Jeans for Genes Day

Updated

Tomorrow is Jeans for Genes Day, which is a very simple concept that can help improve and save the lives of children all over the UK. All you have to do is wear a pair of jeans on this day - the 2nd October - and donate £2 to the cause. This money will go towards the care and support of children who suffer from genetic disorder and their families. The money raised also goes towards research into genetic disorders and the development of treatments and cures.

These genetic condition are often quite rare and unpronouncable such as X-linked severe combined immunodeficiency (X-SCID) - this particular disease means that child is born with no resistance to infections - or phenylketonuria (PKU) - this is when the body cannot break down an amino acid called phenylalanine and if it goes untreated it can affect the brain's development. There are over 4000 of these genetic diseases affecting children and many more that doctors have yet to identify. With so many diseases to fight you can see why the charity needs all the support it can get. So remember to put your jeans on tomorrow and donate your £2.
