Modified rules for Le Mans Series from 2010

Updated

ACO, the body responsible for Le Mans racing, has published its new set of technical regulations for 2010. These will apply to the Le Mans 24 hour race as well as the LMS. And there are a few changes in store for Le Mans racing in general. The main idea is to boost competitiveness and make the events more attractive to the public. In LMP1, for example, steps will be taken to equal out the difference between diesel and petrol cars, with the latter being permitted more horsepower.

LMP1 will require further changes in vehicle construction while LMP2 will operate with reduced engine capacity. There are also new specifications concerning weight, with LMP1 diesels tipping the scales at a minimum 930 kilos – this season's 30kg handicap will be abandoned.
