The end of an era

Updated

After almost 20 years in the job, Tony George, the 49-year-old owner of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) and founder of the Indy Racing League (IRL), is giving up his CEO role at the historical racetrack. The supervisory board of the family-owned Hulman corporation has since appointed a new management team of Curtis Brighton and Jeffrey Belskus. George now intends to devote more time to his Vision Racing team which competes in the IndyCar series and has son-in-law Ed Carpenter as one of its drivers. He will, however, remain on the board of the Indy holding company owned by the Hulman family.
