How about this, Ferrari? A budget cap of $500

Motorsport fans around the world were in their seventh heaven last weekend as Formula One paid its annual visit to Monaco, the legendary Indy 500 celebrated its 93rd gathering and the 24-hour race was staged at the Nürburgring. These were just a few of the highlights from a full motor racing programme. And of course, there were plenty of races taking place in other countries too.

One such series that has been gaining in popularity over the last few months is the '24 Hours of LeMons'. No, it's not a typo: in this unusual event, cars (or what is left of them) can only enter if their value does not exceed $500, i.e. what the Americans would call a 'lemon'. The sheer enthusiasm of the amateur coachbuilders and fan base turn the occasion into a visual treat. Organiser Jay Lamm is considering franchising the series to Europe.
