VW: concept cars for the Wörthersee posse

Updated

Each year at the end of May, loyal Volkswagen fans organise a get-together on the shores of the Wörthersee, a picturesque lake in Austria. As a special treat for this large posse of aficionados, the Wolfsburg-based manufacturer is presenting two concept vehicles. The first of these is the Golf GTI 'Wörthersee 09', specially finished in a blazing red which VW have designated 'Firespark Metallic'. Under the red bonnet lurks a regular GTI two-litre TSI with 210bhp output. A sport chassis and sports exhaust system certainly add to its performance and acoustics, though.

The second vehicle to be presented by Volkswagen is a further 'Wörthersee 09' study based on the new Polo. It is intended to give an impression of what a sports version of the small car might look like in the future. From a technical perspective, the concept model is based on the 1.4-litre version with 86bhp output. The eye-catching contrast between red and black gives a defining look to the vehicle. Two black rally stripes, extending from the front right over to the rear of the car, add a finishing touch to the bright red paintwork.
