BMW X6 M: Power surge

Updated

This chunk of muscle is driven by a new V8 turbo engine that generates 555bhp from its 4.4 litres of cubic capacity. This means that the BMW X6 M, together with the X5 M, are the strongest vehicles ever to have borne the M badge. The two turbochargers of this eight cylinder engine accelerate both models from 0 to 60 in a 4.7 second sprint, using 'Launch-Control'. The maximum speed is electronically regulated to 155mph, although this can be stretched to 170 with the optional 'M-Driver's Package'. According to BMW, the X5M and X6M permit a fuel consumption of 20.32mpg. The X5 M and X6 M constitute the first time in the history of M GmbH for FWD vehicles to roll out of the works of BMW's in-house tuner. The pictures of the new hunk are from the current New York International Auto Show.
