Bank Holiday washout?

Updated

Probably the most popular topic of conversation for the British is the weather and this is because we get more than our fair share of erratic elements. With the Easter Bank Holiday coming this weekend, the one thing you can rely on is the unreliable weather. One minute the forecast predicts rain all weekend (which is probably what we expect!) and the next it says we can expect sunny skies - fingers crossed! So make sure you have backup plans and prepare for all climates.

Don't be disheartened if the weather is grim, remember that a bank holiday is an extra day to do what you want to do. If it's pouring down, you've got a chance to spend time with your family playing games, or you could spend all day in bed, watch DVDs and eat popcorn. As it's Easter, setting up an indoor egg hunt is a fun way to spend the day for both kids and adults. You can still enjoy a BBQ even if the weather is damp - just bring the food indoors once it's cooked! And there are all sorts of fun activities you can do indoors such as going to a swimming pool, visiting galleries and museums, indoor sports centres with tennis or climbing or golf, you could go to the theatre or visit friends and relatives. You can find all sorts of things to do if you search online and get creative.

If you have already made plans to travel over the holiday, rain or shine, you should make careful preparations before setting out on a driving journey, including finding out about local traffic and weather conditions. If it rains and you plan to drive, make sure you check your windscreen wipers and remember to leave longer stopping distances and drive slower! The AA expect there to be around 18million drivers on the roads over the Bank Holiday, so be careful! Hopefully the weather will hold up and everyone will enjoy a lovely sunny Easter.
