Spring has sprung!

Springtime begins when the clocks 'spring' forward in March, daffodils and bluebells start growing and winter finally comes to an end. Spring makes you feel an urge to change: out with the old and in with the new. In fact, I think it's a good time to do all the things you've been meaning to do like change your dreary winter wardrobe for some new clothes, get a new hairstyle, clean out your house from top to bottom, get a new job, go for a healthcheck, start a new exercise plan or plan for a holiday - it's a perfect time for spring cleaning your life.

Now that winter is coming to an end, who wants to keep wearing those dark heavy clothes? The shops are all bursting with bright new spring fashions at the moment so it's a great time to update your wardrobe. If you can't afford to buy all the spring trends, you can always buy one piece of clothing or an accessory in a bright colour which will lift your whole look for the spring.

Spring means spring cleaning. Cleaning's not fun but it is refreshing to get your windows cleaned, fling them wide open to air out your home, clean upholstery and carpets and have a whip round with the vacuum cleaner. You can always hire a maid service to do it for you! If you've horded junk over the winter, why not search for methods for decluttering your home? I love this time of year, and don't even mind having to do all that housework because when it's done, it feels like a new beginning, and as a final touch to the newly cleaned, sparkling house, a bunch of fresh flowers really brightens things up.

There are so many beautiful spring flowers to buy in the shops at the moment. Bulb flowers such as narcissus, daffodils, hyacinths and tulips are now in season and make lovely bouquets to display in your newly spring cleaned house! Many spring-flowering plants have delicious scents such as lily of the valley and lilac. And of course, all the trees will be blossoming - apple, cherry and plum.

For some, spring cleaning can also apply to their CVs. Since you're probably feeling motivated now, why not sort out your career? There are loads of helpful recruitment agencies online where you can post your CV or consult with a recruitment advisor. Even if you're not looking for a new job, it doesn't hurt to update your CV and see if there are any skills gaps that you could fill by taking a short course or finding more responsibilities in your current job.

Springtime is also a popular time to go for a health check. If it's been a while since your last doctor's appointment, you might find that your GP is extremely busy around now as other people get the same idea! This is the time of year when that unwelcome visitor hayfever starts to put in an appearance and more and more people every year are finding that they have the allergy and are searching for antihistamines. With prescription prices going up, it's important to stay healthy and avoid needing medication!

A good way to spring clean your health is to make sure you have a good diet with lots of healthy eating. Farmer's markets are great places to go in the spring as you can buy really fresh fruit and organic vegetables that are in season, so you know you're getting plenty of vitamins and nutritional food. You can search online for new healthy recipes to try that are low in fat and good for your heart.

As well as cleaning out your home, spring may make you feel like improving the whole house. Doing a spot of DIY is a great way to liven up your home. Break out those power tools - make Black & Decker happy! Maybe you could redecorate with a lick of paint or with new wallpaper. Building extensions and loft conversions can make it seem as though you've moved house!

While you're breathing new life into your home and career, you might also feel motivated to revitalise yourself and create a whole new you. You could learn a new skill, maybe join a dance class, take up yoga and get in touch with your spiritual side, quit smoking through hypnotherapy, or find some peace through meditation.

After all that spring cleaning I reckon it must be time to plan a well-deserved spring break! Many people are searching for holidays and flights for the Easter holiday period. Some top spring destinations are Tokyo, Cape Town and Arizona or a little closer to home: Paris, Amsterdam or Malta. Book some flights now and see spring around the world.
