Unusual Ferrari 250 TR auctioned

Updated

When a Ferrari is put to auction, you can usually wait for a tidy sum being reached before the hammer falls. The world record is held by a Ferrari 250 GTO, which changed hands last year for 21.7 million USD. But this record might yet be broken at the next auction in Maranello, where a very unusual Ferrari 250 TR will be up for sale.

The car is of 1957 vintage and sports the chassis number #0714TR. This Ferrari 250 TR took part in 19 races between 1958 and 1961, in which it was able to chalk up ten victories. It also won in its class at Le Mans with drivers Phil Hill and Olivier Gendebien. If any visitors to our gallery end up wiping their eyes or become colour blind, we can assure them that the black paint on the red nose is fully correct.
